Texas Retina is pleased to welcome board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist Rocío Díaz, MD, to our practice on June 4, 2025. Serving patients in our Wichita Falls office, she will provide care for a full range of vitreoretinal conditions, including macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachment, diabetic eye disease, vitreous floaters, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, and artery and vein occlusions.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Díaz comes to us from Rapid City Medical Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, and before that, Retina Care Center in Medford, Oregon. She completed her medical and surgical retina fellowship training at Truhlsen Eye Institute, University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Prior to that, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Hamilton Eye Institute, University of Tennessee Health Science Center at Memphis, and her internal medicine internship also at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center at Memphis. She earned her medical degree from the University of Panama.
A member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Díaz is passionate about continually improving retina care and sight-saving treatments available to her patients. She has presented abstracts at national medical conferences and has also published numerous peer-reviewed articles in medical journals, including Retina, the Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection, and Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina.
