Texas Retina’s Ashkan M. Abbey, MD, has earned the 2026 Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) in recognition of his contributions to the Academy, its scientific and educational programs, and to the field of ophthalmology.

For the past 15 years, Dr. Abbey has been actively involved in AAO, serving as faculty for instructional courses and making podium presentations on a variety of retinal topics.

The AAO is the world’s largest association of eye physicians and surgeons with a global community of 32,000 medical doctors. The organization’s mission is to protect sight and empower lives by serving as an advocate for patients and the public, leading ophthalmic education, supporting research and advancing the profession of ophthalmology.
