Texas Retina Clinical Research Coordinator Anna Brown was recently selected by Trials InSight to serve on its new Research Coordinator Executive Committee.
Trials InSight is a first-of-its-kind congress focused on the future of ophthalmology clinical research. Covering topics ranging from clinical trial strategy and operations to leadership and professional development, the program is designed to foster practical, meaningful conversations across the clinical research community. Dr. Ashkan M. Abbey, Texas Retina’s Director of Clinical Research for Dallas, serves on the organization’s Executive Committee.
Trials InSight will hold its first virtual conference on February 27, 2027. Members of the Research Coordinator Executive Committee will participate in a series of planning meetings and collaborative discussions leading up to the meeting, helping to shape its direction and agenda. The group will also explore potential speaking opportunities for committee members.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share a passion for clinical research and helping others,” says Brown. “There are not many spaces presently that are geared toward helping others grow within clinical research, and I think this is a much-needed endeavor.”
Getting to Know Anna Brown
Anna Brown joined Texas Retina in March 2023, initially working as a scribe for multiple physicians throughout the practice. In 2025, she transitioned to the research department, where she worked as a research assistant before recently being promoted to her current role as Lead Unmasked Clinical Research Coordinator.
“Research has always been fascinating to me,” shares Brown. “I am constantly learning something new, and it’s awesome to be a part of helping bring new medications to the market to improve patient care.”
About Texas Retina’s Clinical Research Program
A commitment to conducting research to improve patient care was instilled by the pioneering physicians who founded Texas Retina more than 50 years ago. Over the past several decades, the practice’s clinical research program has grown into one of the largest in the country within a community-based practice.
Since 2015 alone, Texas Retina has offered over 380 clinical trials, providing patients with opportunities to receive emerging therapies for a variety of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis. Many of these studies have contributed to the approval and adoption of new treatment protocols, helping preserve sight for patients with conditions that once resulted in significant vision loss.
Clinical trials are conducted in Texas Retina’s offices in Dallas, Arlington, Lubbock, Fort Worth and Plano.
