That is why Texas Retina physicians remain committed to conducting ongoing research that could improve care for our patients and are currently participating in clinical trials for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), ocular melanoma (cancer), diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis.
We recently opened 5 new studies:
Diabetic Macular Edema
MK-8748-005 (Arlington, Fort Worth) — A randomized, double-masked, multicenter, 3-arm, pivotal Phase 3 study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of IVT MK-8748 compared with aflibercept (2 mg) in participants with diabetic macular edema (DME).
Diabetic Retinopathy
Helios 3-OTK-TKI-2025-NPDR-302 (Dallas Main, Arlington, Fort Worth, Plano) — A Phase 3, multicenter, double-masked, randomized, parallel group study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravitreal OK-TKI in participants with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR).
Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) with Drusen
iSIGHT2 (Fort Worth) — Microcurrent transpalpebral stimulation therapy for intermediate to advanced dry AMD with drusen.
Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) with Geographic Atrophy (GA)
ADARx (Dallas Main) — A Phase 2, randomized, masked, placebo-controlled study of subcutaneously administered ADX-038 in subjects with geographic atrophy (GA), secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Uveitis
KSMP002 (Plano, Arlington) — A master protocol for studies evaluating intravitreal therapies in retinal vascular and retinal inflammatory disease.

APL3007-GA-201 (Dallas Main, Plano) — A Phase 2, randomized, placebo-controlled, multicenter, masked study to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamics of multidose APL-3007 in combination with Syfovre/pegcetacoplan (APL-2) in patients with GA.
Sanofi-DFI18231 (Dallas Main, Fort Worth) — A Phase 1/2 study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of a one-time intravitreal dose of SAR446597 in participants with geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Wet Macular Degeneration
20250115 Amgen (Dallas Main, Arlington, Fort Worth) — A randomized, double-masked, comparative clinical study evaluating the efficacy, safety, and immunogeniticty of ABP938 8mg versus Eylea HD.
