In the latest issue of BuckEye Ophthalmology, The Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences featured Texas Retina’s Robert C. Wang, MD, for giving back through the George & Shirley Wang Fund for Student Excellence in Medicine. Dr. Wang established the annual award in 2020 to honor his parents, and it provides a scholarship to a student who hopes to pursue a career in ophthalmology.
Dr. Wang completed his undergraduate, medical school and residency at the Ohio State University. As an undergraduate student, he earned the coveted Evans Scholar scholarship, which provided him with full tuition and housing for four years.
“That scholarship made a huge difference in my life and motivated me to give other students the same opportunity,” shares Dr. Wang. “I bleed scarlet and grey and feel fortunate to be at a point in my life when I can give back.”
