Texas Retina Associates’ Ashkan M. Abbey, MD, was featured in a recently released New Retina Radio podcast for retina surgeons titled “Tips for Mastering Secondary IOLs.”
Dr. Abbey discussed approaches to implanting an intraocular lens (IOL) following a cataract surgery that resulted in aphakia, where an IOL was unable to be implanted, or where the initial IOL is deficient. He shared his preferred surgical approach for implanting secondary IOLs and discussed how retina surgeons can avoid common pitfalls when performing this procedure.
